SETTING
Antonio’s is located in a newly refurbished townhouse, with cosy seating on the ground floor, plus a bar and full view of the spotless kitchen. The stylish mezzanine offers further seating or room for private parties.
FOOD
Like all good Italian restaurants, it is run by an owner who has a passion for good food which he wishes to share with his clientele, and
this is reflected in the service and atmosphere of the establishment. The complimentary focaccia bread with a variety of toppings is baked on the premises. Best-loved dishes for starters include pan-fried duck liver with raspberry sauce and rocket salad, while Hanisky mushrooms sauteed in garlic and chilli is also a delicious speciality of the house, ideally to be served with its special selection of cold cuts. When in season, Antonio’s serves freshly flown in French or Austrialian
oysters. The signature dish is home-made ravioli filled with imported porcini mushrooms and topped with a cream of truffle sauce; this is in
hot demand and is simply the best ravioli to be found anywhere. Also recommended is Austrialian rack of lamb char-grilled and served
with sauteed potatoes and assorted vegetables. For dessert, home-made tiramisu and panna cotta with pistachio sauce are both sensational.
WINES
The wine list here consists of owner Tony Armenio’s personal picks of top wines from Italy, France and Australia, all reasonably priced.
SERVICE
Waiters are both friendly and efficient and Tony is around to supervise and recommend.
