SETTING
Inside the restaurant, a kind of contemporary rococo effect, plush and ornate yet of clean lines and sharp angles, is achieved through dark wood elements, stone accents and dim, orange-tinted lighting.
FOOD
A big appetite will not go unsated for lack of substantial food. Fireplace Grill specialises in prime cuts of beef and other grilled meats with these forming the menu’s main body and ranging from baby chicken to matsuzaka beef. Other main-course options include seafood-bar items such as Phuket lobster and king prawns. An
appetiser of snails in garlic herb butter will set the stage for rich flavours and satisfying quantity, though in order to leave room for steak or a filling entree the diner might try smoked Norwegian salmon with rocket leaves. As for steak, Argentinean tenderloin is a signature dish and is served with a sauce of choice including bearnaise, cabernet, morel mushroom and others or can be accompanied with one of various mustards proffered. Dessert, with the selection of another signature dish, lemon tart with citrus comfit, ends a meal on a refreshing, zingy note.
WINES
One of the best collections in town, managing to be both large and choice. Impressive by-the-glass selection of not only still wines but
also sparkling as well.
SERVICE
A highly competent group exhibiting the qualities one would expect of staff in a topflight international hotel restaurant.
PRICE
Expect also to pay for it – look for a bill about 3,500 baht and up for two without wine.
