SETTING
Indus replaced the Whole Earth late in 2005. Occupying a house with an enchanting garden, the venue features a modern cafe/deli at
the front, an Indian/Thai restaurant in the main body, function rooms upstairs and a chic Indo-Moroccan chill-out bar at the back. Sandstone
walls, cast iron light fittings, antique wooden doors and creative garden lighting create a magical aura.
FOOD
The menu features both northern Indian and Thai cuisines but it is the Indian dishes prepared in a lighter, more healthy way that are
proving the most popular. Complimentary pappadum and samosa are offered at the start of the meal and to these you should order bhindi
(okra) fries dipped in chickpea batter and fried to a delightful crisp. The tikka dishes are flavourful, with mutton or lamb kebab being marinated in spices and yoghurt prior to cooking to make it wonderfully tender. It is worth ordering one of the whole sea bass dishes if in a larger group. There are many excellent vegetarian dishes to choose from including cottage cheese cubes in a spinach
sauce. Desserts include sweet gulab jamun or delicious golden banana fritters. Coffee and afterdinner drinks should be taken in the bar.
WINES
Consultants were brought in to create a wine list that goes well with spicy Indian and Thai dishes. The selection is well chosen and well priced.
SERVICE
Staff although keen to help can be a little disorganised in some areas. Expect this to improve with time.
PRICE
A meal for two without wine, either Indian or Thai, is great value at about 1,500 baht.
